Education Française Greater Houston is a Houston-based non-profit organization that offers:

– Français Langue Maternelle courses for Francophone children between the ages of 4 and 18 attending American schools. The courses improve students’ oral and written French skills, encourage them to become bilingual and help them maintain a connection to the French and francophone culture, even when French has become their secondary language

– French as a Second Language courses to Anglophone children between the ages of 4 and 14 who wish to learn French as a second language

– A French immersion camp every summer

 

All courses are held on Saturday morning at Memorial Elementary School at 6401 Arnot Street, Houston, TX 77007:

  • From 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for Francophone students (FLAM)
  • From 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for non-Francophone students (FLE)

 

TEACHERS

Desired Profile

  • Teachers for Francophone students
  • Teachers with experience teaching French as a Second Language to nonFrancophone children

Required Skills

  • Fluent in both written and spoken French
  • Able to prepare courses independently while meeting objectives determined by EFGH for each level
  • Able to track the progress and difficulties of each student and adjust your teaching style to each student’s needs
  • Able to work as a team with the assistant and teaching coordinator
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with parents
  • Willingness to participate in training sessions offered by the teaching coordinator

Conditions of Hire

  • Must hold a valid work permit (visa or green card) or be of U.S. nationality
  • Must possess a degree in teaching French (from France or from another francophone country, or must be certified in Texas or the United States) and/or must have extensive experience in teaching French
  • Must be available Saturday mornings
  • Must commit to the entire EFGH academic year

 

ASSISTANTS

Required Skills

  • Fluent in both written and spoken French
  • Experience working with children ages 4 to 18
  • Able to prepare and conduct workshops independently
  • Able to work as a team with the teacher and teaching coordinator

COMPENSATION

Positions are paid based on 3 hours per week for FLAM and 2 hours per week for FLE.
